Edith Therese Karkoschka, known as “Edita” and as KOSCHKA, is a singer, composer, and producer.
Born in Tychy, Poland, and raised in Germany from the age of two, she studied pop music in the Netherlands and speaks 4 languages: German, Polish, English, and Dutch. In 2010, she graduated cum laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Music & Education, specializing in vocals. Since then, she has worked as an artist with a strong interdisciplinary approach, as it allows her to explore a wider range of artistic expression. She has lived in Berlin since 2015 and currently divides her time between Berlin and Brittany.
From 2009 to 2019, she was the lead singer and co-songwriter of the indie-pop band Nausica. Between 2011 and 2014, she fronted the electronic neoclassical collective Cast Glass and collaborated with video artist Krista Burger on the live cinema project Koschka & Heimprofi (2011–2016). Since 2020, her focus has been on her solo project KOSCHKA.
Her self-produced debut album KOSCHKA was released on March 29, 2024, via Berlin label St. Vladimir. Recorded and mixed by Markus Abendroth and Peter Thomas, and mastered in New York by Grammy-winning engineers Emily Lazar and Chris Allgood, the album features original works alongside reinterpretations of German Romantic-era compositions. Contributions from Berlin-based musicians including co-producer and synth player Anneli Bentler and French pianist Romain Bertheau — enrich its distinctive sound.enrich its distinctive sound. Her debut concert in April 2024 was developed with lighting designer Hanna Kritten, emphasizing the interplay of light and music.
In 2025, she joined the international publishing agency Wise Music/Bosworth, alongside composers such as Hania Rani and Ludovico Enaudi.
Since 2012, Edita has played more than 100 concerts and performances across Europe, including at the Indie-Classical Avantgarde-Pop Festival Cross Linx (NL) alongside artists like My Brightest Diamond and José González, and as a support act for Son Lux. Beyond singing, she has appeared as a performing artist, including in the fictional role of Patricia Paay in the noise opera The Magical Massage Bar for Public Officers (2013) by Slovak composer Utvil Kling Sang. She was artist-in-residence at the Begehungen program in Chemnitz (2014) and a guest at the Summer Fellowship Museumsinsel Hombroich. In 2016, she contributed as singer and composer to the cosmic dance theatre piece Superbrocken for Bauhaus Dessau. In 2020, she joined the interdisciplinary art project Die Poröse Oper with Die Philosophischen Bauern, which premiered at UT Connewitz in Leipzig. During the COVID-19 crisis, she launched the online music portal Fluid, improvising a cappella compositions based on submitted texts.
Edita has released one album with KOSCHKA, three EPs with Nausica, and one EP with Cast Glass. Her voice has appeared in various productions, including a collaboration with sound artist Machinefabriek on Crumble. With Nausica, she achieved radio success — their song All I Do was played on Radio Eins for six consecutive weeks.
Currently, she is working on new releases and a second album, with plans to return to touring in 2026.
