biography
Edith Therese Karkoschka, “Edita” was born in Tychy, Poland in 1985. She grew up in Germany and Poland and studied music & education in the Netherlands. Edita speaks 4 languages: German, Polish, Dutch and English. She finished her studies with a bachelor degree (cum laude) in 2010 and works as an artist with a strong interdisciplinary approach as this covers her interests in a wider range of artistic expression. Currently she’s living in Berlin (DE).
On the basis of vocal expression and composition she’s working in areas as (theatrical) music performance & sound art. Karkoschka explores the act and the absorption of music in experimental setups and collaborations. She’s the leadsinger of the experimental pop band ‘Nausica’, the electronical-neo-classical band ‘Cast Glass’ (2011-2015) and the live-cinema performance project ‘Koschka & Heimprofi’ in collaboration with video artist Krista Burger.
Since 2012 Karkoschka played more than 100 concerts/performances around Europe, e.g. at the indie-classical avantgarde pop festival “Cross-Linx” (NL) in 2014 sharing the stage a.o. with My brightest Diamond, Jose Gonzales and as a support act for Son Lux. In addition to that she was also active performing the comic role of Patricia Paay in the noise opera “The Magical Massage Bar for Public Officers” (2013) by Slowakian composer ‘Utvil Kling Sang’, participated in the artist-in-residence program Begehungen in 2014 (Chemnitz, DE), was invited as a guest at the summerfellowship Museumsinsel Hombroich and worked as a singer and composer for the Bauhaus Dessau in the cosmic dance-theatre piece “Superbrocken” in 2016. Karkoschka released 3 official EP’s with her band ‘Nausica’; a 4th one with her former band ‘Cast Glass’, and got featured in various collaborations as e.g. with soundartist ‘Machinefabriek‘. Recently she released 2 singles with her band ‘Nausica’ and is preparing her solo debut aka ‘Koschka‘. An ongoing interdisciplinary project ‘Die Poröse Oper’, set for 3 years has its premiere on 8th of March 2020 in Leipzig (DE).
