Berlin-based artist KOSCHKA released her debut album ‘KOSCHKA’ 29th of March 2024.

Described as a tightrope walker, singing folk tunes with a loop station, marrying a fragile song to the distortion of her keyboard, Berlin-based artist KOSCHKA made her solo debut on the with the beautifully minimalistic single The Flood in 2018 followed by a second release of the song Abendstern; her first adaptation of a classical piece with the original title ‘Abendstern D 806’.

KOSCHKA – aka Edita Karkoschka – is a singer, composer and music producer currently based in Berlin. While she’s not a classically trained musician, she works extremely intuitively and manages to combine her classical interests with her love of PJ Harvey and experimentation to create something gently genre-defying.

She fronted the German-Dutch indie-pop band NAUSICA until the end of 2019 and has played concerts all over Europe. 2020 she decided to fully dedicate herself to her solo project KOSCHKA.

After another adaptation and single release of a classical piece by Schubert with the title Tiefes Leid at the end of 2022, KOSCHKA released another evocative single in February 2024: You Can’t Bear My Love. Her raw, smokey vocals combined with earthy percussion and subtle brass moments are undeniably encapsulating throughout. Previous supporters include the likes of Atwood Magazine, NOTION, The Revue, Get In Her Ears and With Guitars. on the 29th of March 2024.

With feature single Oh Brother she released her self-produced debut album KOSCHKA, on the 29th of March 2024 by the renowned Berlin Label St.Vladimir (a.o. Bulgarian Cartrader, Verboten Berlin), was recorded and mixed by Markus Abendroth and Peter Thomas in Berlin and mastered by Emily Lazar and Chris Allgood (e.g. as David Bowie) in New York. It features various Berlin based musicians and contains a combination of her own songs and re-arrangements of classical German songs from composers such as Franz Schubert and Robert Schumann. The first album tour concerts started in Spring 2024.

„What an absolutely stunning find we have for you today. KOSCHKA’s “The Flood” is an absolutely exquisite piece of music from start to finish. Get ready to be mesmerised. Despite being over 6 minutes long, this really is a track that just keep on giving. It was recorded in one take and combines KOSCHKA’s love of experimental and classical music wonderfully. It’s dark, it’s brooding, its emotional. KOSCHKA’s powerful vibrato soars beautifully over the captivating piano-pop melodies, creating something both haunting and dreamy. It’s clear to see that KOSCHKA is a fan of PJ Harvey with this track, but her love of classical composers also comes through, making this track wholly unique in a world of modern electronic sounds.“ UK Artist of the Week – The Vinyl District

“Check out this stellar, beautiful piano-led track that showcases a stunning, evocative vocal and a heart-wrenching mood. This is something so very, very special. This will knock you for six. Damn.” – Soundsphere Magazine 2018

„…For nearly seven minutes, the Berlin-based singer-songwriter will leave you in complete awe and in utter paralysis because it is one of the most beautiful things you will hear not today, not tomorrow, not even this week, but this entire year. It is simply extravagantly gorgeous…“ The Revue CA

„…Ein zartes Piano, ein brummender Synthie und geschichteter Gesang – mehr braucht Koschka nicht für ihren Song „The Flood“. Sie singt davon, wie ein einziger Moment das Leben eines Menschen für immer verändern kann. Und als wäre es die einfachste Sache der Welt, zieht sie damit den Hörer komplett in ihren Bann…“ Detektor FM GER

„…we couldn’t wait to get to grips with her exciting new solo material. And so, we’re thrilled to introduce KOSCHKA solo debut ‘The Flood’ a beautifully minimalist single, which is out now via Part Du Decor Records… Inspired after a return to Berlin, following a long period in the Netherlands, there is a detectable sense of ‘Heimweh’ or homesickness at play behind the vocal performance, imbuing the
track with a tangible sense of sincerity. Bittersweet, and melancholic, ‘The Flood’ is a compelling debut’.“ Earthly Pleasures Blog UK
